Insurance Costs to Rise Due to Harassment Claims
From workers’ comp (4.3%) to medical malpractice (17.5%), business insurance costs are projected to increase. In the middle, at 10%, employment practices liability prices are being driven by increasing harassment and discrimination claims.
Since workplace bullying is still permitted in the US (with the exception of Puerto Rico), and often is a precursor to harassment and discrimination claims, employers can get ahead of these claims AND COSTS by being proactive.
Draft, approve and implement anti-bullying policies and procedures. Then have your insurance broker include this information in the annual renewal package. It couldn’t hurt.
